Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server occasionally beeps when running

\015 Our Dell PowerEdge 1600sc server is running our services fine, with no apparent problems, but recently it is sounding a series of beeps for a few minutes, then stops. There appears to be nothing wrong with server from the display screen. I have a feeling it might be something to do with the power supply or temperature problems. I worry that these beeps are a fore warning to something bad. Any advice is welcome.\015\012\015\012Regards,\015\012\015\012Greg\015

Answers :

Can you tell for sure where the beep is coming from? Could it be the disk controller card beeping? I believe the PERC cards have a separate speaker on the card itself. If you are lucky maybe it is warning that it's battery is bad. If you are less lucky maybe it is warning you of an impending disk failure.
