Having problems with your Dell PC Desktops ?

Audio device not recognized!

\015 Hi, I have a strange problem with my speakers. This morning I switched on my computer as usual and the sound just wouldn't work at all. When I tried going on Control Panel I found "Audio device not recognized". I downloaded a sound driver from the Dell website (my model is an OptiPlex GX110) but that didn't work either. The speakers can still switch on and are still connected to the tower, but the PC doesn't recognise them at all. (They are harman/kardon speakers) It's as if they were never installed. Does this mean that my sound card is irreprabably damaged, will I have to get a new one? Or is there something wrong with my sound driver?\015

I bought a used GX520 and the volume does not work. There is no volume icon on the lower right corner. Under sounds and audio devices it says ''no audio device'', and I can't change anything. I own another of the same comp. and the sound works great on it. Under sounds and audio devices it says that it is using ''SoundMAX Digital Audio'' and I have all options available to change the levels. In my new computer, it has an option to use SoundMAX Digital Audio but I cannot change it. Any suggestion

I have no audio device recognized on my computer after full XP system reboot. My cables are all properly plugged in, as they were prior to the reboot when sound was functioning properly. Moreover, my audio folder shows absolutely no audio mixer device and will not let me alter anything in that folder.
