Having problems with your Dell OptiPlex GX280 PC Desktop ?

Dell optiplex gx280 won't boot up

\015 I installed a new 650 watt power supply in my dell gx280 and now when i turn it on it says no boot device available, i also temporarily took out the floppy drive to get at a part in case that's the problem, cause i know that the floppy drive is part of the boot process. but that doesn't make any sense because my computer has booted fine for years with no disk in the floppy drive\015

Answers :

You either have the boot priority in the bios off or you have improperly cabled your hard drive . perhaps you set it to boot to cd while installing the operating system and forgot to change the order back.
\015\012 The floppy drive does not have to be present for the system to boot (if set to "not installed" in bios)
\015\012your boot devices are your cd/dvd rom and your harddrive.
\015\012Seeing as you've recently replaced the power supply , ime assuming you didnt dismantle the whole computer , just the power leads coming from the power supply, which means you only moved power , not data cables.
\015\012This would be the first thing to check -- power to the harddrive and cd rom, the 4 pin connector that sometimes connects to the motherboard and any data cables you might have bumped while changing the power cables. check these things and post here again.
\015\012Regards
I'm no expert, but maybe my experience will help someone. I had this same problem- replaced the PSU in my Optiplex GX280 Mini Tower and got the "No boot Device" message. I found that I had to go into set up and check the drive settings- the hard drive and cd rom drive were set to off. I don't know if switching out the PSU caused the change- or maybe because I also changed the battery, but my suggestion is Check your drive settings!
