Updrading power supply of Dell Optiplex GX280 Small Desktop.

\015 My system has 210 Watts power supply which i need to upgrade to 400Watts.Will it effect my computers components? I mean is there any danger that the motherboard or processor might get burnt up? I need that power to run latest PCIe graphic cards which require 300Watts or more!\015

Answers :

I doubt your fans will cope ... especially if you have the small form factor (SFF) case ..

So think about fitting additional / higher speed fans (to blow hot air out of the case) before adding extra power hungry cards ..
Hi there.
No, 400Watts will not affect your computers performance, it just means that you will be able to add more peripheral devices to your PC, for example, an external or internal hard drive or more USB devices.
Make sure you get the power supply from Dell themselves as you will find it difficult to install a standard PSU (power supply unit).

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!
