Dell latitude d810 laptop won't full boot on just battery power a

\015 Comp boots fine from a docking statiopn or with a power cord. But... running on just battery power, it goes through the boot process and just before it would normally present the task bar, the desktop icons, and the background picture, the screen goes black. Also, the little padlock with a "9" in it lights up. Every once in a while, the battery indicator lights up as well.\015\012\015\012There is obviously enough power to get it through the initial boot screens (several times). I hit the battery test button and all the lights go on (a full charge).\015\012\015\012It seems like it running but in some sort of safe mode.\015\012\015\012Any ideas...?\015\012\015\012\015\012Thanks,\015\012\015\012Scott E.\015

Connect the AC Adaptor to the Computer and turn it ON. Then, open the Run dialog box and type "msconfig" to open Microsoft System Configuration window. On the System Configuration window, click on the Startup tab then check if the checkbox beside the "LoadPowerProfile" program is marked. If yes, then shutdown the Computer. Then, remove the Battery pack and clean the Battery compartment and the metal contacts using a pencil eraser. Furthermore, you may try resetting the BIOS to its default values after reinserting the Battery.
Restart the Computer and keep on pressing the F2 key until the "Entering Setup" text appears on the screen. Then, press the "Alt+F" key to restore the BIOS to the default configuration. Then, press ESC and Enter to Exit and save the changes.
