Having problems with your Dell Latitude D600 Notebook ?

Dell Inspiron 1000 Unmountable Boot Volume. CD drive faulty.

\015 I try and start my computer but it takes me to the dreaded blue screen of doom.I have tried copying my XP CD onto a USB (MP3 player) stick and booting from that but it says something is missing. I cannot use my CD drive as it just wont work.Ive tried pressing CTRL + F11 at the Dell screen but it does nothing. Ive never seen the screen where you can press R so these options are out unless Im doing something wrong or its because the methods I have seen are only compatable with American Dell laptops (I am based in England with a UK spec laptop)Would really appriciate some help so I can start using my own computer again.ThanksCraig\015

First of all, have you tried booting in SAFE MODE? You can access this feature by pressing the F8 button a few times when the DELL logo appears after powering it on. After pressing F8, a screen should come up giving you several options to choose from. If you can get to this screen, select "SAFE MODE", then push enter. It will ask you what operating system you want to boot to...that should be whatever version of Windows XP you are using. You will see some directories scroll down and then come to a pause. Wait a minute or so and then it should boot into SAFE MODE. Safe mode is Windows without any drivers, so everything will look big because the video drivers won't be loaded. This will allow you to undo any changes you may have made prior to getting a bluescreen. Is your CD drive NOT WORKING or have you just not been able to boot from the CD drive?
You will have to use an externel cd rom plug in to usb port and set bios to boot from usb should work then you can not boot off a thumb drive unless you know how to set it up and load windows would take way too long to explain it to you
