Dell D600 will not switch on - tripping power sources

\015 Hi there,My Dell D600 was working one day, then the next will not switch on at all. I have changed the battery to no avail. However, it is tripping all power sources used to try to boot it up:2 x power leads2 x docking stationsIt seems to knock out the transformers in the power sources and also any extension leads attached, the only way to restore power to these is to switch off/back on at the wall.Seems like a shortage somewhere, as it does it as soon as a power source is connected and before it is even tried to be switched on. Although it then won't switch on anyway. So stand alone battery only it just doesn't start and connecting external power sources trips those sources before an attempt to switch on can be made. Any thoughts?\015

First thing to try is another power supply. They go out. They run at less effenciecies sometimes, and other times they just stop. The inverters get really hot when we use them for a while and they usually get banged around a bit too. When they heat and cool repeatedly, the chips inside expand and contract and over time they crack their soldering in the boards and they lose contact. If one were to have come loose all together and have bounced around inside until it caught on something, that could be your short. Something could have just gotten into the cooling vents on your power inverter too if it has them. Try swapping out with someone else that has a Dell if you can to see if it works, or take it into a repair shop and ask them if they can check it with a good inverter for you. I would think any decent repair place should do this for you at no charge and it would take them 2 min. You can find universal ones for much much less than a standard Dell replacement as well if that's what it is. I know the Dell OEM inverters are over $100 and universal replacement ones are from $25 to $40 on average.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 that will not power up. A fully charged battery will power up the laptop, but the battery will not charge in the pc. I ordered a new power adapter and the same result.
