Having problems with your Dell Latitude D510 Notebook ?

My dell latitude d510 drops wireless connection, lately as many as 5-6 times an hour. The routers seems to be working, and the wireless connection Icon says I am connect by I get the screen telling me I am not connected. Usually when I repair the network connection it comes back.

The same thing was happening to my D510. None of the driver updates or configuration settings worked for me. I finally fixed it by removing the wireless miniPCI card and reinstalling it, It fixed the problem and I have been on line for hours now, Apparently the connections were dirty and reseating the card fixed it. Don't forget to also remove and replace the antenna connections. The little connectors pull straight up. You can get information on how to access the card from the D510 service manual at the Dell web site for free. It's easy. I am so happy now!!!!
The problem may not be the WI-FI but in the router itself. You didn't mention the strength of the connection when you are able to connect. It's also possible that the channel the router is on has interference and changing the channel will provide a more reliable signal.
