Having problems with your Dell Inspiron E1705 Notebook ?

My battery won't charge in my Dell E1705

\015 In a previous post someone had this problem and said that it was fixed by flashing the bios. How do I do this? Where do I get the needed bios info from. Thanks.\015

Answers :

The current bios version is A09. The bios version on your system can be found under the Dell splash screen when you first turn on your computer or by going into the bios itself. If your version is older (A08, A07, etc), you can go to http://www.dell.com and at the bottom click Drivers and Downloads. Get the 7-digit alphanumeric Service Tag form the bottom of the laptop and enter it when prompted. It will take you to the Download page specific to your computer where you can then download the current bios.

\015\012While some battery issues have been taken care of with a bios update, in my experience the issue is usually the battery itself not being able to hold the charge. On average batteries develop problems about a year to 2 years after purchasing the laptop, just in time for the warranty to run out. This means a new battery will need to be purchased. I have also run into the power adapter not charging the batter properly due to the the adapter failing or a break in the cord coming from the wall outlet or from the brick to the laptop. Verify that the power adapter is working properly.
