Having problems with your Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook ?

No sound there's no sound coming out from the laptop like when i tried playing a music through the media player.i tried checking out the sounds and audio devices in the control panel, it showed no audio device.

Answers :

The sound was not coming because the Audio driver was not available.

Here is the download link for your Audio driver from Dell support site.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&catid=3&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=INSPIRONI6400%2FE1505&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

the above link is for Windows Vista, but if you are using windows XP, you can change the operating system name to Windows Xp and download the driver.

Note : Your Notebook comes in two flavor in sound card (Sound blaster from Creative labs and Sigmatel drivers)

Download the driver according to your chipset, but if you are not sure download both, one will work fine.

When I go to system in control panel and look at devices, it shows me a lot of stuff associated with sound and says they are all operating properly. Help!

I have no audio device recognized on my computer after full XP system reboot. My cables are all properly plugged in, as they were prior to the reboot when sound was functioning properly. Moreover, my audio folder shows absolutely no audio mixer device and will not let me alter anything in that folder.
