Windows xp won't turn on, blue screen says hardware malfunction NMI: channel check/ IOCHK

Answers :

This problem is related to hardware communication between the OS and the peripheral, or if there are damaged or incompatible drivers installed.

Perhaps did you installed hardware previous the error?

Try to start windows is SAFE MODE (turn the computer on, press F8 as soon the XP logo appears and select safe mode). If you are able to turn on the computer and use it in safe mode, remove any adapters that you installed previously. In many cases, you can start your computer with only the drive\015\012subsystem controller and the video adapter.

The easy way to restore the computer is using the SYSTEM RESTORE (Start - Programs - Accesories - System Tools - System restore) - just choose a restoration date previous the issue.

If you are not able to restore the computer and still getting the same error it's more likely you may need to contact a technician as hardware failure may be causing it. It may be a simple bad memory or a serious issue with the mother board.

Hope this information helps.

By the way, Perhaps a virus caused this problem. It's a good idea to check your computer with an anti-virus.
Hi\015\012
\015\012
\015\012Thanks for using FixYa. The error you see may have occurred because the Windows have corrupted and you'll need to reload the windows or repair it. To repair it you can insert the repair disk you have got with the laptop. \015\012
\015\012It also might have happened due to loose connection on the hard-disk or a corrupt hard-disk drive. You'll need to disassemble the computer to check the hard disk drive and motherboard connections. You can disassemble it by following these steps--\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Turn\015\012 off the laptop. Make sure the laptop has been shutdown completely and that\015\012 the computer is no longer plugged into a wall outlet. Remove the battery.\015\012 If you have recently been using the computer, wait at least 3 to 4 hours\015\012 before disassembling it to reduce the amount of static discharge.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Open\015\012 the screen. Open the screen up completely so that the laptop lays\015\012 completely flat. Make sure it is securely positioned on a flat, hard\015\012 surface.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 the keyboard panel. Pry off the strip of plastic located directly above\015\012 the keyboard. This piece is covering several screws attached to the\015\012 motherboard, and removing this first is the easiest way to get to the\015\012 motherboard components and the cooling fan.

\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 keyboard screws. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the four\015\012 screws holding the keyboard down. Set the screws aside in a safe place.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 the keyboard. Gently tug on the keyboard and lift it up to reveal the\015\012 ventilation fan and the tab holding the keyboard to the motherboard. You\015\012 can now clean the ventilation fan if you need to.

\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Begin\015\012 disassembling the motherboard. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to\015\012 unscrew the large screw located in the center of the motherboard. This\015\012 screw is holding two large metal plates covering the motherboard together.

\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 the motherboard cover plates. Gently lift the detached plates off the\015\012 laptop and set aside in a safe place.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 the cooling fan. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the cooling\015\012 fan panel; you will need to unscrew three screws located around the fan,\015\012 then lift the cooling fan out of its holder. You can now clean out the\015\012 cooling fan if necessary.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Close\015\012 the laptop. Place a clean, thin dishcloth over the motherboard and gently\015\012 close the screen. Turn the entire laptop over so that the base is now\015\012 facing up and the battery is facing away from you.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Unscrew\015\012 hard drive and memory components. The hard drive is located in the bottom\015\012 right hand corner; the memory unit is located in the center of the laptop.\015\012 Unscrew both of these by removing the small screws at the bottom of each\015\012 unit and remove the covers on each.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 WiFi cover. The WiFi unit is located at the top left of the laptop; remove\015\012 the two screws from this unit and lift the WiFi cover off the laptop. Set\015\012 it aside.

\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 the wireless card. You will see two antenna cables attached to the\015\012 wireless card inside the WiFi unit. Remove the wireless card by detaching\015\012 these wires and lifting it out of the unit.

\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 the RAM memory. Gently pull the RAM module out of the slot by disengaging\015\012 the spread latches on either side of the memory unit.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Remove\015\012 the hard drive. Remove the three screws on the right hand side of the hard\015\012 drive unit and lift the hard drive out.

\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012
    \015\012 \015\012
  • Pull\015\012 out the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screw securing the CD/DVD drive into the\015\012 laptop base, then pop the drive open with a paper clip. Carefully pull the\015\012 CD/DVD drive out of the computer and set it aside.
  • \015\012
\015\012\015\012 Also check the RAM slots for any loose connections.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
