Delll Inspiron 2200 Laptop does not power on

\015 Power lights and harddrive lights come on for about 5 seconds, then goes out. Has new power adapter and battery charging light does light up when unit is plugged in and stays lit. I can press power button each time and the lights come on for about 5 seconds and goes out. Unit seems to be getting power, but does not stay on for longer than about 5 seconds. Answers :

You have all the simpthoms of an overheating laptop.
\015\012For starters, get a vacuum and **** all the dirt from the fan or fans on the back/ bottom of your laptop.
\015\012Then turn on your laptop. It should stay longer than 5 seconds.
\015\012If this solves your problem, then you are lucky.
\015\012If not, you'll need to have your laptop serviced, and clean the heat sink, and have reapplied the heat transfer compund on the processor.
\015\012
\015\012Not a big deal, and not that expensive either.
