Having problems with your Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop Midnight Blue ?

My Dell won't charge,

\015 When I turn it no, it says "the power adapter wattage cannot be determined", I tell it to continue turning on and it does. when I run a setup utility it says the battery is preforming normally. It will not run unless it it pluged in and when it is pluged in it says plugged in not charging. I will run without a battery. Once since this first happened, it said plugged in, charging, it charged completly now it is saying the same thing as before, but it will run with out being plugged in because it is charged. I'm hoping I just need a new adapter, is that true?\015

Answers :

Yes, it could be very true. A lot of electronics will still work somewhat, even though the power cord is faulty.

An example would be the Xbox 360. The three orange lights error is most of the time, the power cord. But the manufacture will send it right back to the customer with out telling them that they tested the device and all is working well. So they are left to think it is just messed up and microsoft is crazy. "when you send it in, you just send in the console and nothing else eg. the power cord".

With that said, it could be the power cord but it also could be the batter it's self. It could possibly have a dead cell and not hold a charge. If when you had it fulled charged the last time after you encountered the error, it lasted as long as it normally would, then I'd put my money on the power cord.

The fact that the power cord still works to "Just Power " your laptop, doesn't rule it out. I would maybe find a cheap one first and try that out before getting a new battery.

Sounds like the voltage regulator in the adapter is failing. Get a new charger...
