Dell inspiron 1300 back light problem

\015 My Dell inspiron 1300 has just gone almost blank. I can still see the screen but only VERY faintly. At a guess I would say the backlight has gone but I don't know if it has one??? Anyone else had this problem?\015

Answers :

All laptops have a backlight and an inverter to power it, and the problem you have is very common. Usually replacing the inverter board in the display fixes the trouble. There are a number of vendors online offering replacement parts. Here is one that just popped up after a Google search. You can also find videos on youtube showing the procedure for opening up the display to install the new part. It's a simple process that most people can handle with a little patience and some small tools.

It's also possible the light itself has gone bad, but the inverter failure is more common. The backlight on some displays is not replaceable separately. So try the less expensive inverter replacement first.
An Easyer way to fix this is to hold the Fn button And keep pressing the up arrow button until the brightness is to your likeing.

(The Fn button is next to the ctrl button on the left)
