Having problems with your Dell Dimension 8200 PC Desktop ?

My Dell will not start up. I get to the Dell screen and then get an message that says: Primary hard disk drive 0 not found. Do I need a new Hard drive?

If you any experience getting into the system bios you can check to see if the system still sees the hard drive by pressing the F2 or DEL key on startup. This screen shows a system bios with hard drives present. ( http://techgage.com/reviews/asus/barebone_690/pundit_21_thumb.jpg ). If it does not show up it could be that it came unplugged however unlikely. But you could try opening the system and checking to make sure the hard drive is still plugged in. Some manufactures tend to plug devices in fairly loosely. It may look something like this (http://www.laray.com/build/drive5.jpg) or like this (http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/cooldrives/ide-drive-to-sata-adapter-plug-image-2.jpg)
If all this seems too much, you could take the PC to a repair shop and have them check to see if your harddrive is still properly installed. If it is still installed but keeps giving that error then you probably need a new hard drive.
Try going to the BIOS page by pressing F2 on the Dell screen. Check if the hard drive is detected. Normally, you'll know if it's detected because it will show the HDD space. If it's not detected it would say "Unknown".

\015\012You can also try reseating the cables of your hard drive. Open the tower, unplug the cables connected to your hard drive. Plug it back in. Reboot the system. If you get the same message, then your hard drive needs to be replaced.
