Having problems with your Compaq Presario Notebook ?

AC Adapter melting

\015 I have recently purchased a new Ac adapter for my laptop. When I plugged in my laptop to charge the connection got so hot that it began to melt. This was happening with my old adapter as well, the overheating no the melting. This occurs both while the laptop is in use and while it is on standby charging. I don't recall hearing any fans to cool the system down either. Is this a problem with my laptop or the AC adapter?\015

Answers :

It could be a fault with your laptop which is drawing more current than what the AC adapters can supply.
\015\012The adapters are under too powered for your laptop.
\015\012Check the voltage and current rating requirements of your laptop, this information is printed on a label on the bottom of the laptop.
\015\012The adapter should have the same voltage and current rating or same voltage with a higher current rating.

I have a recently purchased HP DV6000 Pavilion notebook. It recently began melting the power cable (the rubber portion). I bought a new univeral power adapter (Targus). However, the laptop itself does not heat up, only the portion where the AC adapter plugs in. The battery runs perfectly fine (averaging about 1 hour, but I rarely use the batt

I have an HP DV6426us. Last night I accidentally unplugged the AC adapter. I immediately plugged it back in, but the blue light on the DC jack wouldn't come on.
