CD rom drive not working

\015 I have a Gateway MT6452 NotebookIts been running fine, but i discovered that my CD drive isn't working. The drive isn't listed in MY COMPUTERS. However, under device manager the driver Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530 ATA Device that is listed under the driver has an exclamation mark next to it. It has that Error code 10 (This device cannot start.) message. Windows isn't giving me the right solution. I tried updating it but vista looks for the driver. I tried checking all over the web to find a solution, even gateway website does not list how to fix this. please help. thanks\015

I have Inspiron 530 running Vista and just experienced loss of CD Rom Drives.
Check; Click Computer / System properties/ Device Manager/ DVD/CD rom Drives Then Right click and view properties. It will probably say Error Code 10. (Icon at DVD / CD Rom drive shows a small yellow exclamation mark.

I then phoned Dell and spent 1 hour trying to fix. (Unable to do so )

I previously had Epson Printer and HP scanner which ran on XP no problem.
I have tried loading them on to new Vista and the printer works but cannot find drivers for scanner to run it on vista.
I have just uninstalled Printer and scanner and YES my CD/DVD ROM drives have reappeared and are working fine.

I think the problem was by loading the HP disc onto my new computer.
Sounds like it's gone home early. replacement will do the trick..
