Having problems with your Boston Acoustics BA735 Computer Speakers ?

\015 I need help from FIXYA members if you happen to know of it. I tried to search for answer but not finding any solution yet. Seems most people do not have the same problem. I have a set of BOSTON ACOUSTICS Digital BA735 : 2 speakers + 1 subwoofer. They do work, but not completely perfect somehow. If I turn the speaker's volume to MAXimum ( Computer volume controls checked and adjusted . . . so I don't think the trouble is there ) . The main problem is that the speaker's sound will not reach maximum level as I think they should be at. Normally, they generate enough decibels yet quite acceptable to an ordinary human's hearing WHEN speaker's knobs are turned to Maximum level. No one seems to complain that it is way too loud. Once a while if I happen to move the mouse on the monitor's screen or even if I leave the mouse alone with computer music playing , speaker's sound will reach its " intended maximum level " ( kind of where I start to think of I should lower the maximum setting a bit before the neighbor begin to pound on the walls ) . So I know these speakers transmit louder sound level " as they were intended to be " than they actually are now generating . I usually turn the speaker's knob to Maximum setting, since they produce enough sound , loud enough but not really difficult to bear for people around me. I am not sure what the actual problem is, but I find it to be an annoying problem. When I listen to the music, some times, the sound will jump up and then return back to its normal " MAXIMUM sound level " . Hence, I am sure, the actual Maximum sound level is that of the spiked sound level, since they definitely will reach a higher decibel level. The duration of this spiked sound phase can be from 1 second to a longer duration of like 30 seconds. Eventually , speaker's sound level will return to its so called " normal Maximum setting sound ". I have no clue. Is it a problem with my computer sound card ? Actually I have no idea what this sound card or where it is located inside the computer. So I am limited in terms of more complex computer technical matters beyond control settings which are easy to figure out. Is it a problem with the wireless transmission wavelengths somehow ( this wireless computer desktop computer is not too far from the main wireless router - just next room ).Is it the Power supply adapter a problem unit? I have a Power supply, Boston AcousticDK1201A5-1An O/P 12VAC 1500mA . . . .The power supply adapter gets kind of warm to the touch since it is plugged in 24 hours. . . I have no other place to answer to what I can think of currently. let me know if you have any idea. Sincerely and THANK YOU MUCH\015

OK, a few things here. First of all, what program are you using to listen to music? Some programs have an automatic volume leveling setting. If you're using Windows Media Player, it has one. Next, you should NEVER set any speaker/volume/amplifier knob to Maximum setting if you want to get any life out of your speakers. Speaker ratings are for consistent volume levels at a "clean" power level. When you turn any music source up past 80% you are pushing more distortion through the speakers that they cannot reproduce without self destructing. The human ear cannot hear this, and the volume gain is minimal. Next we'll talk about that your dealing with a combination of power levels compiling into an amplifier that may be taking in more than it can aptly amplify according to it's power multiplier scheme to increase the volume at the speaker level. If you've got everything maxed out, you're probably just pushing it all WAY too hard. All over exerted energy that is not being used productively will end up in generating heat and distortion. Those are your 2 biggest enemies when it comes to anything audio. Distortion tears voice coils and generates disruptive electrical currents, and heat destroys circuitry and components in amplifiers. The times where they jump up in volume, just look at that as borrowed time until they blow. If you want louder, get a better or more powerfully rated set, and still, NEVER turn it up past 80% if you want it to last.
