This issue is can be caused by loose cable\015\012connections or a loose DVI graphics card in the computer. Check cable\015\012connections and verify there are no bent pins.

\015\012Ensure that the DVI graphics card is securely connected in the computer.

You can also try this procedure with your Mac:

\015\012\015\012Here are some steps you can\015\012try to resolve the issue:
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012• First, hold in your power\015\012button for approximately 10 seconds to do a hard shutdown, if you have not\015\012already turned your Mac off.
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012• Once your Mac is shutdown,\015\012you will need to perform what is called a PRAM reset (Parameter RAM)
\015\012\015\012This should help with the\015\012freezing issue:
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012• Locate the following keys\015\012on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys\015\012down simultaneously .
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012• Turn on the computer.
\015\012\015\012• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R\015\012keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012• Now, hold the keys down\015\012until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the third time.
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012• Release the keys and allow\015\012the Mac to start up.
\015\012\015\012
\015\012\015\012• Please update me to let me\015\012know if this works.

A PRAM is a good troubleshooting procedure for display issues.

If this does not work, this may be a genuine issue with the graphics card in your Mac, more so, than 2 monitor just burning out. You may need to take the Apple ADC 17" in for service, if the procedures above fails.
