Pointer jumps around on screen when touching touch pad

\015 I have an Acer Asipre 5610-2273 and I think the touch pad is going bad. I can't control the pointer well enough to use it and had to disable it. Whenever I just lay my finger on the pad, the pointer will jump around on the screen or respond like i clicked on one of the buttons. I'm thinking I need to change the touch pad. Any suggestions?\015\012\015\012JB\015
