Sounds like the problem may be related to the power management of the internal ethernet card.

\015\012You need to check these settings in the Acer ePower Management software (usually installed with the laptop).

Ethernet driver I just switched my laptop from Vister to XP Pro and I can't find a driver for the Ethernet card, in network connections the 1394 network adapter is there and it says its enabled but when I check it out it has no drivers and can't find a IP address.
