Ati2dvag.dll Hi i have a acer aspire 5024 i have had problems with it just shutting down on its own at first there were no errors or details of why i even checked event id in the end i reinstalled using the acer disks supplied (xp home) all went fine until the drivers were loaded on it lasted for about half an hour then crashed this time with blue screen and message about ati2dvag.dll so i checked the drivers for the graph card and went to ati website to see if i could download the latest driver

You definitely have a video driver problem.

Try downloading the latest drivers for that machine from the Acer web site here:

...if you do this (or have done it) and it does not work properly, try reinstalling the operating system and then installing those drivers fresh after install. That should work. If it doesn't, look in the Acer user's manual for the machine's maximum resolution (for example 1024x768), and then changing the video driver to one of the standard Microsoft drivers, for only that resolution. The problem you are having above seems to be that you tried this solution, but loaded a MS driver for the wrong resolution. So you are probably pretty close on it.
