Did you format and re-install your OS on your new hdd?
is it set as master- jumper on rear of drive- where the power connector and ribbon connector connect? (little black, removable jumper connector) usually to the left of the ribbon connector- 6-8 pins. usually, the hdd has a label, or printed on diagram showing jumper settings. if it's a single hdd, then set it to 'master', on the jumper.
make sure the first cable connector, on the ribbon, is connected! should be 'keyed', so you can't connect it the 'wrong' way!
if you've formatted, and re-installed your OS, then it should detect your new hdd, and boot! if you have a 'restore' disk for your comp., use that to re-install.
if you re-install your 'older' hdd and install your new hdd, you may be able to copy the data from your old to your new ( need to set new drive as "slave- check jumper on new drive!) or copy important data from old drive to a usb plug-in, and move it to your new drive, when you get it working! try 'F2" on boot-up, and check your setup is set to 'pnp os' (plug 'n play). it will automatically detect your new hdd.
lot of stuff- good luck!
Replacing the Internal Hard Drive with a Larger Capacity Hd Dr is done usually either to replace a damaged Hd Dr or to make an image of your smaller Hd Dr to the Lg one, Making an image Hd Dr is best to do in this scenario. If your Sm Hd Dr is damaged then you will need to re-partition and re-format your new Lg Hd Dr. To do this you need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order to CD 1st then insert your factory supplied Sys. Restore Disc or if you don't have the Restore Disc insert a Windows Op Sys Disc, shut down and reboot, follow prompts. This works on most non-proprietary PC Laptops, If you didn't get a Sys Restore Disc from the Mfg. then I would try the latter.
