My computer keeps restarting with the following msg showing - We apologise for the inconvenience but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware and software change may have caused this. What can I do. It won't let me get into safe mode and I cannot find the restore disk.

Cause: A thirdparty driver/software crashing the windowing subsystem. Windows hascome up with a kernel change that, if Windows crashes, it'll reboot themachine rather than going to the blue screen.

Step 1: Firstunplug all the external devices, like printer, internet connection,camera, external harddrive etc. Isolate the machine with keyboard,mouse, monitor & that's all should be connected to the machine.

Step2:Now, restart the machine try to boot in to the Windows Advanced MenuOption by pressing the F8. Try disabling "Automatic restart on systemfailure, So that you can get the BSOD & the troubleshootaccordingly. Need more help about, how to boot in to Safe Mode, checkthis article:

Step3: If you are able to boot in to the Safe Mode, Check if you can undothe changes that caused this problem, If you can't remember. Try SystemRetore.

Step 4: Still no joy, Configure the computer in Clean Boot.


Also, perform Windows Update & 80% of time it'll fix it for you.
