Having problems with your PC Desktops ?

The laptop will not set-up it comes up rune normal/ safe mode / from last point that worked but none work what shall i do?

Answers :

Sounds possible that you have damaged sectors on your hard drive, or possibly a faulty hard drive. I am assuming here that you have Windows XP

Do you still have the CD's that came with the PC with the windows operatings system on them - I would try to boot from the Windows CD and run the set up utility but choose the repair option if possible

Your computer must be configured to start from the CD drive or DVD drive. which you have to choose in the setup fuction by booting the PC and hitting the F1 key as the PC starts to boot - but check you PC manual to make sure thsi works for you. typically PCs are usually set to check other boot devices first so you may be good to go regardless.

When the "Press any key to boot from CD" message appears, press a key to start \015\012your computer from the Windows XP CD.

When the "Welcome to Setup" screen is displayed, press R to start the Recovery \015\012Console.

When prompted, type the number that corresponds to the installation of \015\012Windows that you want to access from the Recovery Console, ( you may only have one installation and it may already be selected) and then press ENTER. \015\012For example, if you have one installation of Windows on your computer, type \015\0121, and then press ENTER.

When prompted, type the Administrator password, if its your PC and its stand alone you may have never had an administrator PW so you may just press ENTER.

Then choose to repair the installation. Once the system loads the files - take the CD out and reboot the PC.

Hope it fixes it, but if the disk is really damaged it may need a new hard disk.

Regards
