How do i change the cmos battery a toshiba a215s7422

Answers :

The Toshiba Satellite A215-S7422, is one of the Toshiba Satellite A200 Series.

This is one series of Toshiba's I haven't worked on, so far.

The CMOS battery is referred to as an RTC battery.
(Real Time Clock)

Generally it is a small watch style battery, (CR2032), just like used in most desktop computers, and has two wires soldered to the battery.

The battery is then mounted in a thick plastic holder that resembles a small bag, with two wires coming out of the top. The end of the wires has a small white connector, which is unplugged from the motherboard.

Usually, located resting on top of the motherboard to the upper left side, and under the top cover. (Also referred to as Palm Rest Cover)

In this instance the laptop has to be partially disassembled to access the battery. The wires un-soldered from the battery, and soldered back to the new battery.

[CAUTION!!
These are small Lithium batteries. The soldering/un-soldering technique should be done by a pro!

Too much heat, by lingering too long with the soldering iron/gun, may make the battery explode!

When they explode they have the power of a small bomb!]

Sometimes it's in the same compartment as the Battery. There is a small door in the compartment, that is opened to access it. The battery holder connector unplugs.

However the Toshiba Tecra 9100, has the RTC battery attached to the power board, in the front of the laptop. (Under the Top Cover assembly)

The location could be there.

The cmos battery used on the A215 is the soldered type. It is a small battery soldered in a small bracket on the motherboard. You have to disassemble the laptop down to the bottom case. Once you have removed the palmrest you will see the battery in its holder in the middle of the motherboard. The solder has to be softened to remove the battery and another soldered in its place. Below is a link to the picture of the motherboard with the battery in the moddle of the board.
