Having problems with your PC Desktops ?

I have a Model number RP249UA , HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK PC DV9233CL purchased January 2007. The screen turned completly white suddenly. It does not even display on external monitor. It is out of warranty and I need to fix the laptop. The laptop was not dropped or received any damage. it is in impecable condition otherwise.

Screen white sounds like a video adapter failure.

unplug and take battery out. open up the memory cover in the bottom ofthe laptop, take both memory modules out from the laptop, now with nomemory plug in the power adapter and try starting up, wait 1 minute andturn the laptop off, now place one of the memory modules back into thelaptop and try starting up again, remember to unplug the power whenyour connecting or disconnecting parts from the laptop.

Does thelaptop start up? If not, then take the ram module out from the laptopagain, this time place it on the other memory slot and try again. If itstill doesn't start up repeat the above with the other memory module ifyou have two.

if theres no improvement take the laptop apart, just disconnect allextra not required components of the laptop, modem, wireless, dvd, etc.

see if it boots up with just motherboard, cpu, cpuheatsink, other heatsinks, and one memory ram module, on power adapter.

ifit doesn't start up, reseat the cpu you may also want to replace thethermal grease between the cpu and the heatsink, remember to wipe theold gease off, use DRY toilet paper or similiar, DO NOT USE WATER.

Ifthe machine still doesn't work at all, it appears to be either themotherboard or the video adapter on the mainboard that has failedpossibly due to overheating. You will most likely have to replace thewhole mainboard. I would take the laptop to a local professional toconfirm the fault.
