Retrieving data from a damaged HDD

\015 I have put my damaged HDD from a Toshiba laptop into an external enclosure and, through the USB ports on my other computer, have managed to get some data off it. This was off local disk E. I understand there is recovery software one can buy to try and retrieve data that otherwise appears lost. The problem is I cannot use the cd drive in the damaged computer, so is there something available that can let me do the recovery through the enclosure to my other computer? Thanks in advance.\015
